Bug in the game

Postby GuilMax on Wed Apr 22, 2009 11:04 pm

I'm not sure if this is cache related or not very well engineered game code, but I have a bug report right here and I need someone to tell me what it means and where its pointing to. I also want to know about updates that can fix this and many other types of issues revolving around such a bulky source port. Game engines fascinate me and some actually tell me what the problem is. However, its best I leave this in the hands of the developers of a interesting game I just bought today. I bought it via steam.

Critical Exception

Exception info
Code: 0xC0000005
Address: 0x001B:0x35070E7F
Module: <Unknown>
Description: EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION
Attempt to write data to address 0x00000001
The memory could not be "written"
Call Stack Trace:
3) function=0x35070E7F
2) function=0x1A9BFF94
1) function=0x00000000

Enter error description here: The crash occurred right around the elevator and even inside of it, it is also not to far from the beginning of the game. Somewhere in the casino area after the roof-tops.

Further information (I was pretty sure I met the above minimum requirements before I bought the game, but I'm posting the hardware specs anyway so no further Questions about hardware issues can be asked)

Hardware: 3Gigabytes of Kingston DDR2 Ram
AMD Phenom Quad Core 2.2ghz running on AM2+ platform
MSI Micro ATX mother board
NVidia 9500GT (BFG edition) PCI-E
160gigabyte IDE Western Digital with about 45gigbytes left after the game installation.
System Status: Green, no viruses, fresh install, all drivers and Direct X systems loaded successfully!
OS is Windows XP professional SP2 (SP3 is not necessary, as it only contains minor security updates and excess junk)

As to anything else if my case cannot be explained or if my hardware and OS is not good enough, I suggest this lone game development company go for a different source port, the Cryosis2 engine is not very good with is its memory standards and it seems meant for 7th generation game console systems. Tell me to upgrade, and I would feel to warn everyone else to steer clear of this product. Thank you and please give me a reply! Have a nice day. By the way, I really am not the type to over-complain about such things, I just want answers here, the price maybe more than its worth as $9.99 if this game is bug-free and fully operational.

Your system specs seem fine for running the game. We're working on fixes to this and other issues right now. To help track down the cause of this crash, could you please post or send me the game log? You can find it in [Steam install dir]\steamapps\common\merchants of brooklyn\game.log.

You can email it to chris (at) paleoent (dot) com.

From what you were saying, it seems like the crash happened to you more than once in the same area. Is this true? If so, is it always in the exact same spot, or is it just in a general area? If you have a game saved before it crashes, it would be very useful if you could send me the save file along with the log.

Yes, I got it. It seems like your video card ran out of memory and the engine didn't handle it well, probably a memory leak. I'll be looking into the exact cause. Thanks for your help.
